Dr. Yang’s research is focused on innate immunity, sepsis pathogenesis and antiviral innate immune response. Specifically, he attempts to understand the regulation of caspase-4 noncanonical inflammasome and the role of RNA modification in sepsis pathogenesis.

Representative academic achievements:
Main findings: The critical roles of UBXNs family in innate immunity, the unanchored polyUb chains regulation of noncanonicalt inflammasome, viruses hijack GLUT4 to control RIG-I like receptor signaling in antiviral innate immune response.
